First Moment with Eden

For those of you who haven't yet met our newest little one.  This is a little intro to our precious baby girl,

Eden Neiel Mann

  S5005322

This little sweetheart was born August 22nd. What an experience that was.... Know the scenes in  movies where the pregnant woman is yelling at her husband in the car, "You better step on it or I'm going to have this baby in the car!!!! ? This was pretty much our experience.  We got to the Birthing Center and she was born two minutes later. I asked Richard the next day if he thought I was being a drama queen in the car, he said he yes.  Think he should take me a little more seriously next time?

So, have I mentioned how I think that women are some of the most fascinating creations of God.  There are the more obvious reasons for this :), but what I'm referring to here is the whole pregnancy, labor and birthing process. We girls get to have this tiny creature grow inside of us for many months, feel them kick, punch,  and flip. Sure, it makes many of us disgustingly sick to be pregnant, but still, men will never know what thats like, to have a human being grow inside of you.  Sorry fellas. Then there is this remarkable labor business.  It is unspeakably painful, and the idea of experiencing that again anytime soon is quite terrifying, but you can't help but see how amazing it is what your body does to bring a baby into the world. Fascinating. I'd go into more detail, but it would probably make Richard blush, and you probably don't want to know anyway....

So, back to Eden, it's hard to believe she is three months old tomorrow.  We have all been having so much fun with her.  The kids shower her with hugs and kisses all day long. Richard and I are pretty taken with her too,  except for when she won't go to sleep at night....

Here are a few more pics from the day she was born.

Here's on with "aunt cousin Kriss"  her namesake, Kristyn Neiel Haws.

Gideon sees his baby sister for the first time. He was totally excited to meet her.  Elliotte on the other hand wasn't so sure about this baby that Mama was holding. It took a good two hours for her to warm up to Eden, but she has been crazy about her baby sister ever since.

Aren't they pretty?

Back at Pop and Grannie's that evening. I think Gideon is so pretty in this picture.

A week after Eden was born we got to celebrate Elliotte's birthday! Here are a few shots from that.

Some of Gideon and Elliotte's most favorite pastimes.

Gibbie in the pool, where he would pretty much spend the entire day if we let him.

S5004902

Elliotte at the cooler eating ice. (Sorry, but modesty wasn't an issue here). Elliotte is addicted to munching on ice. She will ask for it several times a day. She probably stood here at the cooler for half an hour or more. Notice the pink little hand. If she sees me with a drink that has ice in it, she'll say "Ice for me, mama".

S5004916

Across the street saying hello the the bull, pony, horsey, and donkey (or "heehaw" as Elli calls him).

S5004926

My two sweet buddies. Yes, it does appear that Gideon has Elliotte in a choke hold, but she doesn't seem to mind.

S5005025

Little Gibbie is turning into a photographer these days. He's always asking me if he can take pictures with my phone, or with the digital camera. Here is some of his "work".

Elliotte, with the added artistic glow of finger over the lense.

A few random fun photos.

back at the old habit.

This pic reminds me a whole lot of pictures of old Richie when he was little.

S5005028

these are just cute

And FINALLY, an update on the house.

view from the front with our newly planted grass.

Livingroom/bedroom fireplace. This is a two-sided chimney, both alike.

S5005069

The kiddos in our pantry pretending to be food. Yes, more abnormalities. What kind of children pretend to be food?

Kitchen fireplace from stairs above. also, the beginnings of a hand rail.

And for all of our Nebraska, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama family, I really am going to try and be more faithful to this, for your sake (at least for the next few weeks). We love and miss you all!

Midnight....time for sleeping.

This is called, trying desperately to catch up. Most everything that I have missed between now and my last entry. For Rachel and Alyssa who have both made complaints about my lack of "blogging".

First off, Sir Gibbie's third birthday, May 1, 2008.

This little entry is for Terry, who seems to think that these grandkids of his don't do anything normal. What's so abnormal about playing in the mud in your underpants???

Normal or not, I think they are pretty darn cute.
